announces the release of KEPServerEX Data Access (DA) 3.0.
Kepware President, Mark Hensley explains, "We're

KEPServerEX versions. The addition of Data Access 3.0 support
will enable our customers and partners to take advantage
of the key technology enhancements offered in the latest
specification from the OPC Foundation."
KEPServerEX now fully supports OPC Data Access 3.0. The
DA 3.0 spec is an enhancement of the DA 2.05a and DA 2.05
specs. KEPServerEX was tested at the 2005 North American
Interoperability Workshop in Tampa, FL and now has 100% compliance
test success. DA 3.0 enabled OPC clients can now take full
advantage of the KEPServerEX's DA 3.0 enhancements
including the ability to access Tag Properties as OPC Data
Access Items. Reliability is a key factor in any data acquisition
system. To enhance the reliability of the connection between
an OPC client and server, Data Access 3.0 provides a new "Keep
Alive" feature that allows the OPC server to send periodic
responses to connected OPC clients. This periodic response
ensures the OPC client is receiving data from the server
and keeps network connections established between the OPC
server and client.
OPC clients can now develop optimized tag browsers using
the new tag browsing features of DA 3.0. Systems containing
large number of tags can now be browsed rapidly with far
less impact on system resources. The new browser functions
of DA 3.0 allow an OPC client application to read smaller
sets of tags from an OPC server on an as needed basis. The
Sampling feature of DA 3.0 provides dramatic improvements
in data access for networked OPC applications. This enhancement
of DA 3.0 allows an OPC client application to request the
OPC server "sample" data from the connected device
at one rate while returning the data to the OPC client at
a different rate. This means that KEPServerEX DA 3.0 can
now be configured to sample data from a device at once per
second, but return the list of items to the OPC client only
once per minute resulting in a sixty-fold reduction of OPC
messages on the network!
